Bumgenius vs. Fuzzibunz vs. Sunbaby: Cloth Diapering Revisited.

My cloth diapering experience started out with trying 3 different brands: Sunbaby, Bumgenius, and Fuzzibunz one- size insert diapers. It's been over a year and half since I've started cloth diapering, and my thoughts have changed a little. Here's what I originally thought. And so here's the good, the bad, and the ugly dirty....in my opinion anyways. :)

Fuzzibunz One Size Elite didn't even make it a month in our home. I like how trim they were, but adjusting elastic + a squirmy baby = lots of wardrobe changes (both baby and me).

The Sunbabys are gone. Goodbye. I got rid of them months ago. Those cute fabrics just suckered me in, and $5 sounded like such a steal! It started as a few snaps here and a couple threads here, but some of them quickly started coming apart. But it was the months in and months out of changing lots of baby clothes because of diaper leaks that Sunbaby and I had to part ways.

And so, that leaves Bumgenius 4.0 (with snaps), and they are fantastic! Absorbent, yes. Easy to change, yes. Easy to clean, yes. Durable, yes. They are a bit more expensive, but when it comes to cloth diapering, I have found you get what you pay for.

It's Christmas time, oh Christmas time.

Silas' Angry Birds Birthday Party!

This day may be on the Top 10 of my favorite days ever! Actually yes, it definitely is. This was the first birthday where Silas was in tune with what was going on, and it was awesome!

Dad made an angry birds cupcake stand for the b-day boy.

Jack and Silas hanging his angry bird piƱata. Silas' mind was blown when he realized it was filled with candy!

The birthday boy sneaking some food. :)

The kids enjoyed coloring some angry birds pictures.

Next the kids played a real live angry birds game!

Mama and the b-day boy. This boy is too sweet.

And this my friends, is a sugar high. :)

New Home.

I just realized I'm going to have to change the title of my blog, because I am no longer a seminary wife. :) Jack and I were looking at old posts on here, and he gave me the nudge to keep blogging as a way for our family to remember things.

There have been a lot of changes happening in our family. Jack graduated in December, and by the end of March we had our moving van loaded up and we were headed to Winter Haven, FL. Jack spent the next 6 months working at The Rock of Winter Haven. By the end of September we were once again loaded up as God had opened doors for Jack to be the Associate Pastor at First Baptist of Franklin, NC. Needless to say, there has been lots of boxes and unpacking happening in our lives!

Here's a little bit of what we've been up to!

Franklin is the cutest little town! This is Silas and dad waiting to roll their pumpkin down a hill at the Fall Festival!

Lois the cabbage patch doll is ready for her first Trunk or Treat.

"I'm Silas Michael Jarrett, and I'm a mountain boy!"

Jonah and the Big Fish at Trunk or Treat at First Baptist!

Lois and dad hanging in the Walmart parking lot. One of the things I love about Franklin is how close we are to everything! Seriously, we are 5 minutes from everything! Amazing! This is Lois in her favorite spot, on top of dad's shoulders.

Silas & Lois have become quite at home in the nursery thanks to Ms. Pat, Emily, and the other nursery workers who pour out mountain heaps of love on these two!

A Family Update: On the Move

We have some exciting news!!! Jack has accepted a ministry position at his dad's church, The Rock.

Jack, Silas, Lois and I are moving to Florida!!! At the end of this month!!!

It was almost four years ago, that Jack and I got married. Two weeks later we were on the road and headed to Louisville. We have made some of the sweetest memories and friends during our time here. And of course we have our seminary souvenirs, Silas and Lois, that have made our time here just amazing and totally unforgettable! I was reminiscing, and looking through old pictures and videos, and I came across these goodies, so I thought I'd share.

This was our first Thanksgiving as a married couple, and this is the first turkey we ever cooked. I knew it looked different than what mom's turkeys looked like, but only later did we realize we didn't get a whole turkey!

Our first winter, Jack taught me the most efficient way to get down our stairs to the car.

Our first Christmas!

Before we were blessed with Silas and Lois, Jack and I would take mini road trips to different places to try different root beers.

This was the night Jack and I found out I was pregnant with Silas. We celebrated by going over to the Stanford's!

November 14, 2010... Silas was born, and that sweet boy with the big, blue eyes changed our lives forever!

Finding out that we were becoming a family of 4.

Best. Laugh. Ever.

Waiting as Lois took her sweet time to make her debut.

On May 10, 2012, we got to meet Lois Michelle. Jack describes Lois as "sweetness incarnate" and that's just what she is!

Lois being greeted by Silas when we brought her home from the hospital.

Jack's graduation this past December.

Love,
Laura
